Most of my concerns are related to Jan. 6,
If an appointment expires under subsection (c)(2), the district court for such district may appoint a United States attorney to serve until the vacancy is filled. The order of appointment by the court shall be filed with the clerk of the court."
Our understanding is that if the Senate does not confirm a U.S. attorney before an acting U.S. attorney’s term expires, the attorney general can still pick the next acting replacement as long as it is done before the original appointment expires under 28 USC 546,
It's disappointing because, you know, I know that he's very talented,
Give this guy a shot. Meet with him. Talk to him about what he’s going to do in the office,
The district is a cesspool. It is a crime wave every single day,
I am proud to lead this effort to support Ed Martin because he’s a proven leader who is already devoting all of his time to restoring the rule of law in our nation’s capital,
His approval is IMPERATIVE in terms of doing all that has to be done to SAVE LIVES and to, MAKE AMERICA HEALTHY AGAIN,
Anybody who committed violence, like the violence in Kenosha and the violence in Portland before them, should be in prison — period, full stop,
To put it bluntly, the District of Columbia is broken,
When he comes up for a vote, I intend to support him,
Ed Martin will be a big player in doing so and, I hope, that the Republican Senators will make a commitment to his approval, which is now before them,
Mr. Martin makes a number of false statements that are easily debunked and dodges at least 80 questions outright, stating he doesn’t ‘recall’ the answer to a question more than 39 times, ‘I don’t know’ more than 21 times, and some variation of ‘can’t discuss this matter’ more than 20 times,
All I can say is, as the chairman of the committee … I want to put people on the agenda, that I can help the president be successful in his nominees. And that’s all I can say at this point.”
Trust me, the [District of D.C.] judges who wasted 4 years trying the J6 rioters will NOT be electing Ed Martin,
I’m thinking about future January 6ths,
His record makes clear that he doesn’t have the temperament or judgment for this job,
Ed Martin is a fantastic U.S. Attorney for D.C. and will continue to implement the President’s law-and-order agenda in Washington,
Obviously, we would cross that bridge if and when we came to it, but it sounds like he’s got problems committee-level,
Most of my concerns are related to January 6, and he built a compelling case on some of the 15, 12 prosecutions that were probably heat of the moment bad decisions, ... Where we probably have a difference is I think anybody that reached the perimeter should have been in prison for some period of time
