Kentucky, we're starting today with the tough news that we lost at least 14 of our people to last night's storms, but sadly, this number is expected to grow as we receive more information,
The devastation from last night's deadly weather is heartbreaking, but we are going to make sure we get the support needed to recover and rebuild together,
The tornado moved from the eastern part of the county, leaving behind a trail of destruction, with multiple homes completely lost and areas left unrecognizable,
Our city is grieving tonight,
The wind started, the tree out front was shaking so violently,
It's horrific for a tornado to come through here and cause this much damage to the residents and also to the church,
This is truly, truly devastating,
Lives have been changed forever here tonight. This is a time we come together, and we pray for this community,
Everything was tore up.”
You could see the doors flying open, tree branches flying by and people running,
The search is continuing in the damaged area for survivors,
There are concerns of heat exhaustion for people that aren’t taking proper precautions when they’re outdoors,
Our first responders acted swiftly, even while the tornado was still active, putting themselves in harm’s way to provide immediate assistance and care to those injured,
We can’t definitively say whether or not it was a tornado — it likely was,
Severe thunderstorms producing large to very large hail, damaging gusts and a couple of tornadoes are expected across the southern Plains,
The outpouring from our community has been heartwarming. We are continuing to accept donations,
Damage reports and radar imagery suggest a tornado likely occurred across parts St Louis this afternoon. We will have a survey team on the ground tomorrow to confirm and assign a rating."
