Vehicle crashes into entrance at Manila airport, killing 2 people including a 4-year-old girl

Initial review of the CCTV footage showed the driver of the SUV dropping off a passenger which indicates that there was no premeditated plan to inflict harm on the NAIA passengers but the investigation is still ongoing,

the DOTr said

The DOTr, together with the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) and law enforcement agencies, is conducting a full and impartial investigation including reviewing all CCTV footage, and subjecting the driver to a drug test,

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Vigor Mendoza II said in the statement

Failure to appear and submit the written comments/explanations as required shall be construed by this Office as a waiver of your rights to be heard, and the case shall be decided based on the evidence at hand,

the SCO signed by LTO-Intelligence and Investigation Division chief Renante Melitante read

We must stand up against this kind of driver behavior to show that if in the past they could get away with such violations, that’s no longer the case. Now, they will truly be held accountable.”

At this time, we are awaiting official confirmation on the cause of the incident and reports of injuries. We are closely coordinating with all concerned agencies to gather accurate information,

We understand the concern this incident has caused, especially as images have circulated on social media. We urge the public not to speculate and to wait for verified updates,

NAIA said in a statement

The incident tragically resulted in the casualties of two individuals – a male adult and a 4-year-old girl,

I don't want to share other details for now as the investigation is ongoing. Initially, the CCTV was reviewed, and it seems that what happened wasn't intentional. We just have to find out what really happened,

As part of our investigation, we have already issued an SCO requesting that the driver and the registered owner come to our office and explain the incident,

the LTO chief said

First and foremost, I want to express my sincere condolences to the families of the two people who lost their lives in this terrible catastrophe. This is very tragic news because one of our fellow OFWs' children was among the dead,

Asec Mendoza said

The area has been secured, and access is now restricted to NNIC personnel, the Philippine National Police (PNP), and airport security while investigations are underway,
