I am deeply saddened by the devastating fire tragedy in the Charminar area of Hyderabad, which has claimed several precious lives. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families of the victims during this difficult time.”
A painful incident happened today in Gulzar Houz. The family had been living in this area for 125 years. All 17 of the deceased were immediate family members. It is a matter of great sorrow… I offer my condolences,
Prima facie, the cause of the fire appears to be a short circuit in the mains of the shopping area,
We will order an inquiry into the fire accident,
The entrance of the building which is narrow was engulfed with fire and smoke and the access to the first floor through the staircase was only one meter due to which the occupants were unable to escape. The building had only one entry of two metres, which is like a tunnel,
As the main door of the building was engulfed in flames, we broke the shutter and also a wall and entered inside. As the blaze was high we went to the first floor. We found seven people in one room and six others in another room. We were not able to save them due to the fire. Had we saved them it would have been good,
Now only two members of the family are left. I want to offer my condolences. I was informed by DG Fire Services that most of the deaths happened due to asphyxiation and fumes...let the report come, it is very painful,
We broke through the shutter and a wall to get inside. It was pitch dark. The smoke was so dense we couldn’t see anything. A woman was found dead, clutching children in her arms — they had all suffocated.”
The main issue was the narrow staircase — there was no way to escape,
There were 21 people in the building. The staircase was just one metre wide, and the exit was blocked by flames,
The accident happened due to a short circuit and many people have died,
Seventeen people, who were shifted to the hospital in an unconscious state, could not survive. The staircase was very narrow, which made escape difficult. There was only one exit, and the fire had blocked it,
Deeply anguished by the loss of lives due to a fire tragedy in Hyderabad, Telangana. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon."
Another entry point was created and firefighters entered from there. Most of the people inside were unconscious,
The fire broke out on the ground floor and spread to the upper floors. Firefighting, search & rescue operations were carried out simultaneously,
I met the family members. Such incidents are very sad. I am not accusing anyone, but police, municipality, fire and electricity departments must be made stronger. I was told the firefighters today did not have proper equipment initially. We must bring better technology in the coming days. I will talk to the central government and the Prime Minister and try to get financial help for the families of those who died in this incident,
The fire broke out around 6 am and by 6:16 am the fire department of the Telangana government was present at the spot. They tried to save everyone. But the fire had spread massively... The majority of the people inside the building have died. The Chief Minister has spoken to the family (who were living in the building that caught fire). The state government will fully support the family. We will conduct a thorough review to ensure fire safety and avoid any such incidents in the future. The public also has to support the fire department in this."
