Dismissed CRPF Jawan Munir Ahmad To Move Court Over Marriage To Pakistani National

I was dismissed on the allegation of hiding my marriage to a Pakistani woman. But I had informed the department and submitted all necessary documents. I appeal to the Prime Minister and Home Minister for justice. I will also knock on the court’s door,

I had sought marriage permission from the department in 2022, but there was a delay. Later, on May 24, 2024, I married Minal, a Pakistani, via video conferencing. I informed the authorities about it and submitted all required documents, including the wedding invitation, location details, and her visa information."

Speaking to ANI, Munir added

My wife is the daughter of my maternal uncle, who migrated from Jammu to Pakistan during partition in 1947. We didn't meet through social media or fall in love online. This is fabricated,

said Munir, who joined the CRPF in 2017.

Only after getting permission from the CRPF headquarters, our families decided to go ahead with the marriage online without waiting for the visa formalities as the condition of my father, a cancer patient, had deteriorated. His treatment was borne by CRPF,

Munir said at a press conference, where he presented documents to support his claims

Since security of the nation has been compromised and there is a further threat to national security by harbouring a foreign national, in the interest of the security of the country, it is not expedient to hold an enquiry,

After the marriage, we submitted all documents, even photos and videos of the wedding,

In 2023, I had given the relevant documents, including an affidavit from the courts. The application was sent to the CRPF headquarters in New Delhi,

he said

I received a reply from headquarters that the agencies had verified my case. The letter said that when a person marries a foreign national, he/she only has to inform the department. The letter also said that their probe revealed the applicant had informed the department and that there is no need for a no-objection certificate,

I made the first correspondence on December 31, 2022 informing my wish to marry the Pakistani national and I was asked to complete formalities like enclosing copies of passport, marriage card and affidavits.”

Explaining the process he was asked to follow before marriage, Ahmed said

I was given the order copy and relieved immediately, leaving me with no option but to join my duties at Bhopal, where I joined on March 29. I faced the interview of the commanding officer and his deputy on reaching there and also completed the documentation process, clearly mentioning my marriage to a Pakistani woman,

When she came (to India) for the first time on February 28 on a 15-day visa, we applied for a Long Term Visa in March itself and completed the necessary formalities, including interview,

I submitted my affidavit and also the affidavits of my parents, sarpanch, and district development council member through proper channels and finally got a go ahead from the headquarters on April 30, 2024,

he added

Being a member of the force, he harboured a Pakistan national in India, who was on a short term visa and also married her, which was not intimated to the concerned authorities, which is amounting to grave misconduct. Since security of the nation has been compromised and there is a further threat to national security by harbouring a foreign national,

the order said,

Ahmed has been dismissed from service with immediate effect for concealing his marriage to a Pakistani national and knowingly harbouring her beyond the validity of her visa. His actions were found to be in violation of service conduct and detrimental to national security.”

CRPF spokesperson Deputy Inspector General (DIG) M Dhinakaran said
