SIR Keir Starmer is under growing pressure to explain why Louise Haigh was made Transport Secretary despite a fraud conviction.
On Friday, Labour MP Louise Haigh quit Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s Cabinet mere hours after it emerged that she was convicted of fraud for claiming she had her mobile phone stolen in a mugging.
Her resignation, the first from Starmer's top team of ministers since winning a landslide election victory in July, came after media reports that she had been convicted and given a conditional discharge in 2014 for what she described as a "mistake".
